Goa Giri Putri Temple is located on Nusa Penida Island which is a holy cave as a place of worship for Lord Shiva and its manifestation in the form of a Goddess who functions to heal and protect humans from negative things. The location of this temple is hidden, which is located in the cave, to enter the temple, you will pass a small hole measuring 80 cm with a distance of approximately 3 meters from the mouth of the cave to enter the cave, because the size of the cave's mouth is not large and curvy, so to get inside we need a ducked road to get into the cave, but the way out of the cave is very wide and not narrow like the entrance. This is what is unique about Goa Giri Putri on the island of Nusa Penida, which is suitable as a spiritual tourism object.

Goa or Cave in Bali is widely used as a place for meditation, a place of prayer and a location for religious rituals, as well as Goa Giri Putri which is used as a place of prayer to ask for safety and healing for the surrounding people. In Goa Giri Putri, there is a purified spring which is believed to have natural powers that can cure all diseases.
As for the meaning of the name of the word Giri Putri, which consists of two syllables, namely "Giri" which means mountain, mountains or hills, while the word "Putri" which means a symbolic name for the power of God who has a motherly or feminine nature. Where the word Goa or Cave means a space / place of a certain size, so the word Goa Giri Putri is a place as a place for God's power to reside in its manifestation as a woman called Hyang Giri Putri and it can also be interpreted that Hyang Giri Putri is one of the the power of God in his form as Lord Shiva. Therefore, this cave is called Goa Giri Putri and is the largest cave on the island of Nusa Penida.
Based on the Babad Nusa Penida, it is said that the name Goa Giri Putri is the name of the manifestation of Lord Siwa. It is said that in the saka year 45, Dewi Kwam In descended and go to Goa Giri Putri, and in the year of Saka 50, Bhatara Siwa with Dewi Uma and her followers came down to earth and headed to Mount Mundhi Peak. In the 60th Saka year, Dewi Parwati followed down to earth and headed to Goa where previously Dewi Kwan In was there, where the cave is now known as Goa Giri Putri which is the Pusering Jagat while Dewi Parwati who has the title Hyang Giri Putri is the guardian of the holy spring water at Goa Giri Putri Temple.

From this history it can be concluded that there has been an acculturation of Hindu-Buddhist beliefs in Goa Giri Putri Temple, namely in the form of the Goa Giri Putri Temple Architecture which is contained in the Nusa Penida chronicle which states that there are not only shrine with Hindu nuances in Goa Giri Putri Temple. Also shrine Dewi Kwan Im as one of the goddess manifestations in Buddhism who has a different ornament. Like in general caves, where there are stalagmites above the cave, decorating the entire top of the cave which makes the scenery in Goa Giri Putri very beautiful. There is also a lamp provided for lighting, although not much, it is sufficient for lighting when performing religious rituals. At the end of the cave, a long chair made of stone has been made and there is also a statue of Lord Shiva and a statue of Dewi Kwan In which is placed at the shrine. This is where religious rituals are usually held, guided by local priests. The way in and out of the Goa Giri Putri is different, where the entrance is through a small cave and the exit in the cave is very wide and is located 100 meters from the shrine.
