The location of Broken Beach is in Banjar Sumpang, Bunga Mekar, Nusa Penida, Bali. The broken beach is in the middle of a cliff as high as 50-200 meters, where the water originates from the open sea which enters through a hole or tunnel on the cliff. The hole was formed due to the abrasion of sea water for hundreds of years. The sea water trapped in the middle of this cliff is so clear bluish. The waves were calm. You can clearly see the life of marine life, especially mantas and turtles.
The local people call broken beach by the name Pasih Uug, where the word Pasih comes from the Balinese language which means Pantai in Indonesian word, and the word Uug which also comes from Balinese which means Rusak in Indonesian word, If the word is combined with Pasih Uug which means Pantai Rusak, where is the word Pantai which is in English means Beach and the word Rusak which means Broken, so this beach is better known to tourists as Broken Beach. According to local people's beliefs that in the past there were settlements here and one day there were large snakes and the people here killed big snakes to sell and distribute their meat to the surrounding community, the gods who saw this were angry and made the land around the city slide down and made a big hole, where you can see this hole until now here, so the local people named this place Pasih Uug or Broken beach.
