Taman Ujung

Taman Ujung Karangasem or better known as Taman Soekasada Ujung is located in Tumubu Village, Karangasem, East Bali. Taman Ujung Karangasem is a tourist attraction associated with royal sites. Sukasada Park was built by the king of Karangasem I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, who had the title Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. At first the area was nearly 400 hectares, but now only about 10 hectares remain. Most of the land has been distributed to the community during the land reform era. This park is the private property of the Puri Karangasem family. However, general visitors are allowed to visit it.

Ujung Soekasada Park was built in 1901 with the name Dirah pool, which means pool for disposal, for people who master black magic. Then in 1909, the king of Karangasem ordered a Dutch architect, named Van Den Hentz and Chinese architecture, named Loto Ang and also involved an undagi (Balinese traditional architect) to develop the Dirah pool to become the resting place for the King of Karangasem. The construction of the Ujung Soekasada park was also assisted by Balinese architecture from the Karangasem Kingdom. In addition to the king's resting place, a place for the Karangasem king to meditate and a place to entertain guests of the Karangasem kingdom was also built. The construction of the Ujung Soekasada park was completed in 1921.

In Ujung Soekasada Park there are 3 large ponds located in one place, only the location of the pool is separated. 1 pond is in the south and 2 ponds are in the north. In the middle of the southern pool, there is a building in the middle of the pool, the name of this building is Bale Bengong. The building of Bale Bengong does not use walls. The pool in the north is bigger than the pond in the south. In the middle of the pond in the north, there is a bridge that is used to cross the pond. In the middle of the pond connected by a bridge, there is a building that was used as a resting place for the king of Karangasem. Because the king's resting building looks hanging, the local people call it the hanging palace.

From above, if you look to the southeast, you will see the charm of the blue ocean from Ujung Beach, if you look to the east, the beauty of the royal building architecture is also very interesting, besides that you will also see views of green hills that are green. named Bisbis hill which adds to the specialty of the Ujung Soekasada Park area. This end garden is because it was made by various architects, so the result of the building also shows that there is a clear cultural acculturation, such as the colorful glass windows which are characteristic of European building styles and carvings which are designs from local Balinese architecture.
