Gunung Kawi Sebatu Gianyar Temple is located in the Banjar Sebatu area, Sebatu Village, Tegalalang, Gianyar, Bali. But according to its history, Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple was founded as a place of worship of Lord Vishnu on the orders of Rishi Markandeya. The person called Rishi Markandeya is a teacher (Maharishi) who spread Hinduism from Java Island. It is from this indication that the construction of the Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple can be estimated between 1300AD - 1500AD. Maharishi Markandeya is a person from the Majapahit Kingdom who used to influence the archipelago and did not escape the Balinese kingdom as well.
Inside the Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu area there is a public bath which is a pool and a shower on the right side of the temple complex. This bathing pool can be said to be quite spacious with very clear and refreshing water conditions. Besides that, the atmosphere here is very comfortable which is far from the city crowd. So it is very suitable to be used as a place of recreation as well as refreshing from the daily activities, especially with family, which is certainly very pleasant. There is also a large pond in the temple courtyard where this pond contains koi fish of various types and sizes. In the middle of the courtyard outside the main temple, there is an open hall, this place is a place for meetings by residents of Sebatu Village. Other functions can be used as a place to rest for visitors while enjoying all the beauty and atmosphere presented therein.
