Bali Museum is located in the center of Denpasar, precisely on Jl. Mayor Wisnu No.1, Dangin Puri, East Denpasar, Denpasar City, Bali 80232. The location is very close to other tourist attractions in Denpasar, Bali, namely a large popular temple, namely Jagatnatha Temple. Bali Denpasar Museum can currently be categorized as an educational tourist spot in Bali which is very interesting for us to visit, when we travel here, we will be presented with a variety of scientific information about how the cycle of human civilization from time to time, especially the Balinese people.
Slightly different from the function of the museum in Ubud which offers a museum where various works of art are displayed such as painting, sculpture and also sculptures to keris, so at the Bali Denpasar museum we will be treated to art collections but with historical values of Balinese civilization and culture. Based on its collections, the Bali Museum is one of the provincial public museums, possessing and exhibiting cultural objects from prehistoric times to the present that reflect all elements of Balinese culture, including archaeological collections, historical collections, fine art collections, ethnogafic collections, biological collections, numismatic collections, philological collections, keramalogika collections and technological collections.
Starting from the idea of establishing a museum that was first coined by W.F.J. Kroon (1909-1913), an Assistant Resident of South Bali who was based in Denpasar during the Dutch occupation in Indonesia. This idea was realized by the establishment of the Arca Building in 1910.
The architects who designed the building of the Arca Building were I Gusti Gede Ketut Kandel and I Gusti Ketut Rai and a German architect, Curt Grundler. Sources of funds and materials to support the construction project came from kings from four districts in Bali, namely Buleleng, Tabanan, Badung and Karangasem.
W.F. Sttuterhim, Head of the Antiquities Service, pioneered the idea to continue the effort to equip the museum with ethnographic heritage in 1930. In order to facilitate the management and administration of the museum, a foundation was established which was legalized on December 8, 1932. This ratification was also the initial moment for the opening of the Bali museum. for the general public.
