Bajra Sandhi Monument is a museum that contains the struggle of the Balinese people against colonialism on the island of Bali. To commemorate the incident of this resistance, in Bali the Bajra Sandhi monument was built in which there is a museum. Which is located at Jl. Raya Puputan, Renon, Denpasar Bali. The form of this museum is like the big Genta and in it there are many collections about the struggles of the Balinese people during the colonial era.

Bajra Sandhi Museum History

Bajra Sandhi Museum or better known as Bajra Sandhi monument is a monument that symbolizes the struggle of the Balinese people. The area of ​​the monument, which is about 13.8 hectares with a building area of ​​4900 meters, was designed by Ir. Ida Gede in 1981. The construction of the monument began in 1987 at the initiative of the former Governor of Bali, Ida Bagus Mantra and on June 14, 2003, the new monument was inaugurated by President Megawati Soekarno Putri

Bajra Sandhi's philosophy

Bajra Sandhi Monument has a typical Balinese traditional architecture like buildings in Bali. The construction is full of the philosophical meaning of Hinduism where the word "Bajra" itself means a bell where Hindu priests often use bells when chanting mantras in religious ceremonies.
In addition, Hindu elements found in the Bajra Sandhi Monument building are

  5. Ksirarnawa is a pond that surrounds the monument likened to a sea of ​​milk.

Not only has Hindu philosophical values, the Bajra Sandhi monument is also full of symbols of independence. There are 17 steps at the main door of the monument. There are 8 great pillars on the inside of the monument which have a height of 45 meters. These figures are the date of Indonesia's independence on 17 August 1945
