Twin Lake View is a view of 2 large lakes in the Bedugul area, namely Buyan Lake and Tamblingan Lake, where this view is so beautiful, this lake was formed from the top of a volcano that erupted thousands or millions of years ago, making a large caldera which is now a lake. This is also supported by the potential for geothermal energy around this lake. The Buyan and Tamblingan lakes are located side by side and separated by forests, where Buyan Lake is wider than Tamblingan Lake. Because it is located side by side and creates beautiful and beautiful scenery, many tourists call this place the name Twin Lakes. This area is a mountainous area where the mountain is a sacred area according to the conception of Balinese society.
In the course of history, the water level of Lake Buyan had overflowed and also receded. In 2006 the lake receded to 1 KM. There is no definite cause for the receding lake water, some argue that it is due to the long dry season, due to agricultural patterns around it, deforestation, and some are looking at it from an abstract side. In 2012, Buyan Lake overflowed quite high, causing several houses and schools to be submerged. Currently, even though it is still the rainy season, the water level is still normal. This can be seen from the parking lot next to the Ulun Danu Buyan temple, which once drowned, it can now be used again.
The name Tamblingan comes from two words in Balinese, namely Tamba which means medicine, and Elingang means memory or spiritual ability. It was told in Lontar Kutara Kanda Dewa Purana Bangsul that people in the area were said to have been hit by an epidemic. As a way out, someone who was purified then descended into the small lake below the village to get water for medicine. Thanks to his prayers and spiritual abilities, the water was then used as medicine and was able to heal the villagers. The words Tamba and Elingang gradually became Tamblingan.
