During the Dutch colonial era, the Gitgit Waterfall Tourism Object was better known as "Ceburan Tuan" or as a bathing place for Dutch gentlemen. Over time, precisely in 1939, this place was finally developed into a tourist spot by a Dutch employee named Dr. Chooykas who was one of the Heads of Liefring Van der Tuuk which is now known as Gedong Kertya. And the name of the waterfall is adjusted to the name of the area of Git Git Village, so that it is easier to recognize, and finally known as the Git Git Waterfall.
